Former Linfield defender Sam Roscoe closing in on Windsor Park return
Sam Roscoe is all set to return to Linfield after a stint with Altrincham in the National League. The 25-year-old left the Blues in the summer of 2023, following several other departures, after David Healy’s team narrowly missed out on a fifth consecutive Sports Direct Premiership title to Larne.
Having been an integral part of Linfield, the former Ayr United center-back moved on to join Phil Parkinson’s Altrincham. Originally from Manchester and having progressed through the Aberdeen youth system with a loan spell at Alloa Athletic, Roscoe achieved success with Linfield, securing a Premiership title in 2022 and a BetMcLean Cup with 84 appearances for the club.
Roscoe initially made his Linfield debut as a substitute in a 4-0 victory against Bosnian team Borac in the Europa Conference League in July 2021. He scored his first goal in a 2-1 defeat to Luxembourg’s Fola Esch the following month.
Roscoe’s comeback reinforces Linfield’s defense alongside Scot Whiteside, who arrived from Ballymena United. In other news, Coleraine announced that Dean Jarvis has extended his contract, expressing his excitement about continuing with the club.
Dungannon Swifts welcomed Dylan King back from Institute on a two-year deal, and King expressed his delight at returning to his former club, describing his time at Institute as one of his best years.
