On Saturday, the Detroit Tigers will resume their series against the Kansas City Royals in Missouri.

Detroit enters the matchup looking to bounce back after suffering a 5-2 defeat to Kansas City on Friday.

Detroit Tigers Announce Carpenter Update

Also on Friday, the Tigers provided another update regarding Kerry Carpenter’s recovery.

MLB.com reported on August 21 that Carpenter has resumed his rehab progression after experiencing a setback during running drills.

For now, however, there is still no definitive timeline for when Carpenter will return to MLB action.

Before suffering the injury, Carpenter was hitting .208 through 81 games, recording 48 hits, 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

Looking At Carpenter

Carpenter was selected by the Tigers in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft and is currently in his fifth MLB season, all of which have come in Detroit.

The 28-year-old outfielder is coming off a strong 2025 campaign in which he belted 26 home runs.

Looking At The Tigers Right Now

The Tigers currently sit in fourth place in the American League Central at 61-67 through 128 games.

Despite their position in the standings, Detroit remains within striking distance, trailing the first-place Chicago White Sox by six games.

After wrapping up the final two games of their series against the Royals, the Tigers will head home to begin a series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.

Chris McCosky of The Detroit News noted that Detroit has dropped six of its last seven games and now sits six games out of first place in the division and 2.5 games back in the Wild Card race, with 34 games remaining.

Looking At The Royals Right Now

The Royals currently sit at the bottom of the American League Central with a 56-74 record through 130 games.

Kansas City has been playing well recently, going 7-3 over its last 10 games while posting a 34-30 record at home this season.

After finishing the series against the Tigers, the Royals will hit the road to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
