Jackson Fields, Former West Virginia and Troy Forward, Commits to Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech has added another experienced player to its 2026-2027 roster. Forward Jackson Fields, who previously played under head coach Scott Cross at Troy, has officially committed to The Flats. Fields brings both versatility and familiarity with Cross, having played both the four and five positions in his career.
Fields (6’8″, 225 lbs) spent part of this past season at West Virginia, appearing in nine games and averaging 4.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest after missing the first seven games due to injury. Before that, as a junior at Troy, Fields started 33 of 34 games, averaging 7.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 48.7% from the field and 72.1% from the free-throw line. He had a career-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers, against James Madison and grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds versus South Alabama. He helped lead Troy to a Sun Belt championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
As a sophomore in 2023-24, Fields averaged 6.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assist over 22.9 minutes per game, shooting 52.7% on two-point attempts. He played all 33 games as a freshman, scoring a season-high 10 points against Coastal Carolina.
Coach Scott Cross has combined experienced transfers with talented freshmen in this recruiting class. Alongside Fields, Georgia Tech has added guards Colby Garland and Nasir Whitlock—both productive transfers—as well as four-star freshmen Kaiden Bailey and Kayden Allen.
With Fields joining the team, the frontcourt now includes: veteran Troy transfer Victor Valdes, Ole Miss transfer Tylis Jordan (who did not play last season), true freshman Moustapha Diop, and sophomore Cole Kirouac. This strengthens an already promising class for Cross and Georgia Tech.
