Bill Self and Kansas Extend Offer to Class of 2027 Phenom

Bill Self and Kansas have extended a scholarship offer to standout 2027 guard Jalen Davis.

As the Jayhawks continue shaping their 2026 recruiting class—while keeping tabs on prospects like Tyran Stokes—the coaching staff is already turning attention to the next wave of talent. On Monday, Kansas made an early move by offering Davis, one of the most highly regarded players in the 2027 class.

Widely considered a top-20 prospect nationally among rising juniors, Davis is drawing significant interest from major programs. Kansas is making a strong push for the dynamic combo guard, who brings a well-rounded offensive skill set.

Currently at Bremerton High School in Washington, the 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard excels as a three-level scorer and is known for his defensive energy. He recently competed on the Adidas 3SSB 17U circuit with Slow Grind Elite, where he averaged 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over four games.

Davis has already built an impressive résumé at the high school level, surpassing 2,000 career points and earning Washington State’s Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year honors. His performance has attracted attention from programs like Gonzaga, UCLA, and Washington, the latter of which has hosted his only official visit so far.

Although he’s located relatively close to Washington’s campus, Davis remains open in his recruitment. Along with Kansas, schools such as Houston and Texas Tech have also extended offers.

According to 247Sports, Davis ranks No. 19 overall in the 2027 composite rankings and is the No. 2 combo guard in his class. Scouting director Adam Finkelstein praised his game, noting that Davis is already being utilized in ways that translate well to higher levels—operating both on and off the ball, navigating screens, making reads, and scoring effectively from all areas.

While West Coast programs may have an advantage geographically, Kansas is aiming to establish early momentum in his recruitment. If the Jayhawks secure his commitment, he would join Javon Bardwell as a key building block for their 2027 class.
