Bucks Re-Sign Veteran Sharpshooter to $64 Million Contract

The Milwaukee Bucks are keeping one of their most reliable outside shooters in the fold, agreeing to a new long-term contract with veteran guard Gary Trent Jr.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Milwaukee has reached a four-year, $64 million agreement with Trent, ensuring the veteran remains with the franchise as it begins a new chapter following Giannis Antetokounmpo’s departure.

Trent declined his player option for the 2026-27 season to test free agency, and the decision proved worthwhile, as he secured a significantly larger contract to stay in Milwaukee.

The 27-year-old has spent the past two seasons with the Bucks, averaging 9.7 points over 139 appearances. Although he shot 41.2% from the field during that span, he remained a dependable perimeter threat, connecting on 39.1% of his three-point attempts. His floor spacing and outside shooting are expected to remain valuable parts of Milwaukee’s offense.

Even with the new contract, Trent will face increased competition for playing time alongside new additions Tyler Herro, Caris LeVert, and rookie Brayden Burries.

Originally selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, Trent was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers before playing an NBA game. After spending parts of three seasons in Portland, he was dealt to the Toronto Raptors in 2021. He joined the Bucks in 2024 on a veteran minimum deal before signing a two-year, $7.5 million contract, which has now been replaced by his new four-year agreement.
