The St. Louis Cardinals will look to secure a series victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday night as the two clubs wrap up their three-game set in the Bronx.
St. Louis enters the finale after falling 2-0 on Tuesday, one night after opening the series with an impressive 13-7 win.
St. Louis Cardinals Release 4 Players
While in New York for their series against the Yankees, the Cardinals also made a number of roster moves throughout their minor league system, including the release of four players.
In an update posted on Aug. 4, Cardinals Player Development announced that right-handers Durbin Feltman (Triple-A Memphis), D.J. Carpenter (Double-A Springfield), Hunter Hayes (Double-A Springfield), and outfielder Miguel Ugueto (Double-A Springfield) were all granted their unconditional release.
The releases were part of a broader series of transactions across the organization’s farm system.
Among the additional moves, left-handed pitcher Cooper Hjerpe earned a promotion from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis. Right-handed pitcher Yhoiker Fajardo and corner infielder Jack Gurevitch were promoted from High-A Peoria to Double-A Springfield.
The Cardinals also placed infielder Dakota Harris on the Development List at Double-A, while reinstating infielder Anyelo Encarnación from the Development List at High-A Peoria.
Several players were promoted from the Florida Complex League to Single-A Palm Beach, including pitchers Jaden Alba, Jan Cabrera, Brian Garmon II, Jacob Haley, Dallis Moran, and Alan Reyes, catchers Paulo Asprilla and Chris Lopez, utility player Daniel Rojas, and infielder Bracewell Taveras.
Additionally, right-handed pitcher Robbie Knowles was transferred from the seven-day injured list to the 60-day injured list at the Single-A level.

St. Louis enters play with a 56-58 record through 114 games, placing the Cardinals fourth in the National League Central standings.
The club has struggled recently, posting a 3-7 mark over its last 10 contests. On the road this season, the Cardinals have gone 28-26.
Following the conclusion of their series against the Yankees, St. Louis will return home to begin a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
