Browns sign former Raiders cornerback Tyler Hall, release offensive tackle
The Cleveland Browns continued reshaping their roster on Tuesday by signing veteran cornerback Tyler Hall and releasing offensive tackle Jack Conley to make room for the move. The transaction comes as the team shifts its focus toward adding depth in the secondary after spending much of the offseason addressing the offensive line.
Hall, 28, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 after playing collegiately at Wyoming. He saw the majority of his NFL action with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and 2023, appearing in 18 games with six starts. During that span, he logged 379 defensive snaps and contributed on special teams with 84 snaps.
After spending time out of the league in 2024, Hall returned with the Seattle Seahawks last season, appearing in one game primarily on special teams.
Over his NFL career, Hall has played in 32 games, recording 46 total tackles, two tackles for loss, four passes defended, and one sack. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound defensive back will wear No. 29 for Cleveland.
Hall joins a Browns cornerback group led by Pro Bowl standout Denzel Ward and veteran Tyson Campbell, who are expected to start on the outside. Behind them, the team has limited proven depth, giving Hall an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp and the preseason.
Nickel cornerbacks Myles Harden and Myles Bryant are also in the mix, but Hall’s experience could help his case as Cleveland finalizes its secondary.
The signing comes shortly after the Browns rewarded Ward with a two-year, $62.2 million contract extension. The deal, which averages $31.1 million annually, makes the 29-year-old the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback. Ward, who previously signed a five-year extension in 2022, is now under contract with Cleveland through the 2029 season.
