Giants Hit with Huge Mega Update

Odell Beckham Jr. Pushes Back on Harbaugh’s Reason for Giants Release

Odell Beckham Jr. has spoken out after being released by the New York Giants, appearing to disagree with head coach John Harbaugh’s explanation for the decision.

Beckham returned to the Giants before training camp and earned a spot on the 53-man roster. However, his second stint lasted just three games, during which he played only 13 pass-play snaps, received one target and recorded no catches.

Harbaugh said the decision was strictly about the team’s roster needs and Beckham’s limited role in the offense, rather than any personal issue. The Giants ultimately used the roster spot to sign receiver Braxton Berrios.

Beckham, however, offered a different perspective in an Instagram comment, saying he felt blindsided by the move. He noted that he accepted the veteran minimum, earned his place on the roster and believed he could still contribute to the Giants or another NFL team.

“I shoulda known better,” Beckham wrote, suggesting he felt the organization could have handled the situation differently.

The Giants had brought Beckham back partly because of uncertainty at receiver. Malik Nabers was recovering from an ACL injury, while Darius Slayton was returning from offseason surgery. Beckham was also familiar with Harbaugh after playing for him in Baltimore in 2023.

Despite making the roster, Beckham struggled to find consistent opportunities in New York’s run-oriented offense. Harbaugh explained that the team simply needed more production from the roster spot and believed there was not enough of a role available for Beckham.

Interestingly, Beckham appeared capable of making an impact during the preseason. He regularly created separation and found himself open for potential big plays, but those opportunities often went unanswered.

His second stint with the Giants therefore ended without adding to his career totals, which remain at 7,987 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns. Beckham has recorded five 1,000-yard seasons, including four during his original run with New York.

Now a free agent, Beckham still believes he can contribute to another NFL team, although no team has claimed him since he cleared waivers.

Whether another opportunity comes his way remains uncertain. If Beckham eventually retires, many Giants fans may still hope to see him finish his career with the franchise that drafted him. His latest comments, however, suggest that the relationship between Beckham and the Giants may have become more complicated following his unexpected departure.
