Indiana Basketball extends offers to trio of elite 2028 centers
Indiana has recently offered scholarships to three highly touted centers in the 2028 recruiting class—Xavier Young, Dylan Betts, and Bamba Touray—each of whom brings five-star pedigree and significant long-term upside. The offers come as Darian DeVries and his staff look to reinforce their future frontcourt after recent struggles on the boards.
Last season, Indiana’s rebounding production was limited, with Tucker DeVries leading the team at 5.3 rebounds per game and only one other player, Sam Alexis, averaging more than four. The Hoosiers were frequently outmatched on the glass, losing rebounding battles by double digits seven times—all resulting in losses—and they were physically overpowered throughout much of their Big Ten schedule.
In response, Indiana strengthened its roster through the transfer portal by adding Aiden Sherrell (Alabama) and Samet Yigitoglu (SMU), both strong rebounders. However, since their collegiate tenures will be limited, the staff is also prioritizing long-term development through high school recruiting.
Xavier Young
A 6-foot-10, 210-pound center from Dallas’ Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff, Young is a five-star prospect ranked No. 12 nationally in the 2028 class. He stands out for his length, fluid movement, and vertical athleticism. A strong finisher and active rebounder on both ends, he also shows defensive potential as a rim protector and offers major upside due to his physical tools and mobility.
Dylan Betts
Betts, a 7-foot-3 five-star center at IMG Academy, is ranked No. 15 nationally. He brings elite size, a strong rebounding motor, and soft touch around the rim. He also flashes developing shooting ability, including potential range out to three-point territory, which could significantly expand his offensive impact. He is the younger brother of UCLA standout Lauren Betts.
Bamba Touray
Ranked No. 3 overall in the 2028 class and the top center nationally, Touray is also an IMG Academy product. He is considered the most polished of the trio, with advanced scoring ability inside, a reliable shooting touch that extends to the perimeter, and strong finishing versatility. He also contributes as a rebounder, rim runner, lob target, and shot blocker, making him a well-rounded two-way presence.
