Michigan Pushes for Elite LSU Target, Nation’s No. 2 Cornerback

Michigan is making a strong move for one of the nation’s top defensive prospects, as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson is set to visit Ann Arbor this week.

The Cornelius, North Carolina standout has rapidly climbed recruiting rankings and is now considered the No. 2 cornerback in the 2027 class. With his stock rising, several major programs are intensifying their efforts to secure his commitment during a crucial stretch of the recruiting cycle.

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing around 170 pounds, Dobson has drawn heavy interest from schools like LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Clemson, all of whom have been actively recruiting him as visit season ramps up.

LSU has already hosted Dobson earlier this offseason, where he met with head coach Lane Kiffin and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond. He has also taken visits to other programs, including Clemson and South Carolina, and will now add Michigan to his growing list.

Despite the increased competition, LSU is still widely viewed as the team to beat in his recruitment. According to 247Sports, the Tigers have been persistent in pursuing Dobson, who is ranked among the top overall players in the country.

Dobson’s upcoming trip to Ann Arbor marks another key step in his recruitment, but he also has an official visit to LSU scheduled for June, giving the Tigers another opportunity to strengthen their position.

As the 2027 cycle continues to take shape, Dobson remains a top priority for LSU at the cornerback position. Even with Michigan’s push, the Tigers appear to be in a strong spot as his decision process unfolds.
