Oklahoma Scheduling Gameday Visits With Highly Rated Prospects
With the 2026 season now less than two weeks away, the Oklahoma Sooners are beginning to fill their gameday schedules with visits from some of the nation’s top high school recruits.
One of the most notable prospects expected in Norman this fall is 2028 athlete Kamieon Compton-Nero, a standout from Owasso, Oklahoma. The highly regarded recruit plans to attend Oklahoma’s season opener against UTEP on Sept. 4 before returning for the Sooners’ annual Red River Rivalry matchup with Texas on Oct. 10.
At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Compton-Nero is a consensus four-star prospect. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 48 nationally, No. 1 among athletes and No. 1 overall in the state of Oklahoma for the 2028 class.
The Sooners are recruiting Compton-Nero as a safety, where his production has already been impressive. As a sophomore at Rejoice Christian School, he recorded 95 tackles, five interceptions and three defensive touchdowns. He was also highly productive on offense, accounting for 3,335 total yards and 49 touchdowns.
Compton-Nero is already familiar with Oklahoma, having made several trips to Norman, including three gameday visits last season. He previously expressed his excitement about continuing to develop relationships with the Sooners’ coaching staff.
His fall schedule will include more than just Oklahoma. According to his social media, Compton-Nero is also planning gameday visits to Ole Miss, Alabama, SMU, Texas Tech, LSU and Notre Dame.
Oklahoma Also Hosting Jordan Hicks
Mission Viejo, California, cornerback Jordan Hicks is another highly regarded 2028 prospect expected to visit Oklahoma this fall, according to 247Sports’ Blair Angulo.
Hicks is a consensus four-star recruit and is listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds. The 247Sports Composite currently ranks him No. 144 nationally and No. 15 among cornerbacks in the 2028 class.
As a sophomore at Mission Viejo High School, Hicks recorded 62 tackles, five interceptions, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Oklahoma is one of several major programs Hicks plans to visit during the fall. His schedule also includes gameday trips to USC, UCLA, Alabama, Nebraska, Miami and Oregon.
Sooners Building Momentum With More 2028 Targets
Oklahoma is also continuing to make progress with several other elite prospects in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
Four-star safety Jaelyn Easterling-Flores has narrowed his recruitment to six schools, with Oklahoma remaining in contention, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The Goodyear, Arizona, standout stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 180 pounds. He is a consensus top-100 prospect and sits at No. 59 overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2028 class.
Easterling-Flores recorded 45 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a sophomore at Desert Edge High School. He is also teammates with 2027 Oklahoma cornerback commit Mikyal Davis.
The other programs still pursuing Easterling-Flores are LSU, Texas, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Miami.
Oklahoma also remains in the mix for five-star defensive lineman Kellan Hall, who has reduced his list to 12 schools.
Hall is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in Rivals’ 2028 Industry Rankings and is considered a consensus top-10 recruit. The Louisville, Kentucky, native measures around 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds.
The defensive lineman has already visited Oklahoma four times, with his most recent trip coming in June. Hall previously participated in one of Brent Venables’ football camps before returning to Norman for an unofficial visit on his 16th birthday.
According to Fawcett, Hall’s other remaining schools include Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Oregon, Miami and Kentucky.
With several elite prospects planning visits and multiple blue-chip recruits keeping the Sooners in their respective recruitments, Oklahoma is positioning itself for an important stretch in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
