Oregon Among Finalists for Four-Star EDGE Prospect George Parkinson IV
The Oregon Ducks continue building momentum on the recruiting trail, not only with their highly ranked 2027 class but also by laying the groundwork for future cycles. One of the program’s latest successes came as four-star EDGE prospect George Parkinson IV included Oregon among his final six schools.
The Ducks currently boast 24 commitments in the 2027 class, which is ranked No. 2 nationally by 247Sports. While that group remains the staff’s top priority, Oregon has already turned its attention toward recruiting elite talent in the 2028 class.
Parkinson narrows recruitment
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Parkinson’s final six schools are Oregon, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
The Pennsylvania standout is regarded as one of the nation’s top defensive prospects in the 2028 class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 89 overall, the No. 15 EDGE recruit nationally and the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania.
Although Parkinson has trimmed his list, he has not announced a commitment timeline, which is typical for a prospect entering his junior year of high school.
Most recruits in the 2028 class are expected to make their college decisions during the summer before their senior season, though some will commit earlier in the spring.
Major target for Oregon
Parkinson has emerged as one of Oregon’s top defensive priorities. According to 247Sports, he is one of 22 EDGE prospects to receive an offer from the Ducks, underscoring the coaching staff’s interest.
Landing Parkinson would give Oregon a significant building block for its 2028 recruiting class and provide an early boost as the program begins assembling the group.
EDGE is expected to be a major area of emphasis in the coming years. Although the Ducks already have three EDGE commitments in the 2027 class, they are projected to lose several key contributors over the next two seasons.
Following the 2026 campaign, Oregon is expected to part ways with standout pass rushers Teitum Tuioti and Matayo Uiagalelei due to eligibility. Additional departures are also possible as the transfer portal continues to reshape college football rosters.
With that in mind, head coach Dan Lanning and his staff are likely to pursue at least two EDGE commitments in the 2028 cycle, with room to add even more depending on future roster movement.
At the same time, Oregon’s work in the 2027 recruiting class remains ongoing, ensuring the Ducks will stay active on multiple fronts as they continue pursuing top talent.
