Oregon Pushing to Flip 5-Star Georgia Commit as Recruitment Intensifies

The Oregon Ducks remain firmly in the mix to flip elite 2027 cornerback Donte Wright, who has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since June 2025.

Wright Still Weighing Options

The Long Beach, California native stands 6-foot-1, 170 pounds and is considered a five-star prospect, ranked No. 9 overall in his class by the 247Sports Composite. Despite his long-standing pledge to Georgia, Wright continues to explore other programs as his recruitment heats up.

Oregon has been involved for quite some time, offering him in early 2024. Since then, Wright has taken an unofficial visit to Eugene, attended the Ducks’ junior day in January 2026, and is scheduled for an official visit later this summer.

He recently acknowledged that he’s at a difficult stage in the process, leaning on family and close advisors to help guide his decision.

Wright also noted that his connection with Oregon remains strong, while Georgia continues to leave a lasting impression during visits. Additionally, he has expressed interest in Miami, keeping multiple options open as he evaluates his future.

On-Field and Track Standout

During his 2025 junior season at Long Beach Poly, Wright recorded 25 tackles, seven pass breakups, and two sacks. He’s also a standout in track and field, posting impressive sprint times of 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.80 seconds in the 200 meters—highlighting the speed that makes him such a coveted defensive back.

A final decision is expected sometime in July.

Oregon’s 2027 Class Outlook

Oregon currently holds 11 commitments in its 2027 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 6 nationally. The group received a boost with the recent addition of five-star quarterback Will Mencl, one of the class’s top-rated prospects.

With signing day still months away, the Ducks are in position to continue climbing the rankings—especially if they can pull off a major flip like Wright. After securing top-four classes in both 2025 and 2026, Oregon is once again building toward another elite recruiting haul in 2027.
