Padres Handed Huge injury Boost

Padres Reliever Adrian Morejon Gets ‘Stickiness’ Update After Missing Game 3 vs. Brewers

Adrian Morejon’s availability for Game 4 of the NLDS remains uncertain after the San Diego Padres went without the left-handed reliever during their dramatic 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3.

The Padres found themselves in a difficult bullpen situation late in the game. With their relief options running thin, they turned to Michael King, who had started Game 2, to close out the final two innings. King responded brilliantly, recording the final six outs to secure the crucial victory for San Diego.

Morejon’s absence was especially noticeable because he would have been an ideal option for the ninth inning, with two of the three Brewers hitters expected to face the Padres being left-handed. However, the reliever was not healthy enough to take the mound, forcing San Diego to rely on King instead.

Following the game, Padres manager Craig Stammen revealed that Morejon is still experiencing a feeling of “stickiness” in his shoulder. According to Darnay Tripp of NBC San Diego, the team decided it was not worth risking further injury by sending him out to pitch.

Morejon was also unavailable in Game 2, which contributed to Mason Miller being asked to throw two innings during San Diego’s walk-off defeat. The 27-year-old left-hander had previously worked two innings in the Padres’ Game 1 loss and experienced discomfort in his shoulder following that appearance.

There is, however, some encouraging news for San Diego. The team has not completely ruled Morejon out for a possible appearance in the decisive Game 4 on Wednesday night.

The Padres also face uncertainty surrounding Miller, who missed Game 3 after leaving the team on paternity leave when his wife, Jordan, went into labor Tuesday afternoon with their first child. His availability for Game 4 remains unclear.

With their season once again on the line, the Padres are expected to have all hands on deck. Morejon will likely do everything possible to be available if the team needs him in another elimination game.
