Pitt has added another nonconference game to its 2026-27 schedule, with the latest opponent coming from the Horizon League.
The Panthers are set to host Cleveland State on Dec. 21 at the Petersen Events Center, according to a report confirmed by Pittsburgh Sports Now. Per Alex Rosinski, Pitt will pay the Vikings $85,000 to make the trip to Pittsburgh.
The matchup will mark the first meeting between the two programs since February 1981, when Pitt escaped with a 73-70 victory. The Panthers hold a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series against Cleveland State, which is coming off an 11-22 campaign.
With the addition of the Vikings, Pitt now has six nonconference games on its 2026-27 slate. The Panthers are scheduled to host Cleveland State, West Virginia, and Villanova, while also competing in the Fort Myers Tip-Off, where they will face Oklahoma on Nov. 24 and DePaul on Nov. 26. Pitt will also travel to Missouri on Dec. 1 as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge.
After finishing 13-20 last season, head coach Jeff Capel and his staff aggressively reshaped the roster through the transfer portal. Pitt brought in 11 transfers—Baye Ndongo, Nait George, Jalil Bethea, A’lahn Sumler, Jonathan Powell, Dominique Diomande, Ibrahim Souare, Armani Mighty, Timofei Rudovskii, Kraig Gilbert, and Colin Hawkins—while also adding two freshmen. Macari Moore is the program’s only returning scholarship player from last season.
