Virginia Among Finalists for Top-100 2027 Recruit Chase Richardson
The Cavaliers are vying for one of the nation’s top point guards, Chase Richardson, who recently revealed his top five schools: Nebraska, Notre Dame, Purdue, Texas A&M, and Virginia.
Richardson, a 6-foot-1 guard ranked in the top 85 nationally in the 2027 class, has had an impressive junior season, averaging 18.3 points, 5.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.7 steals. His game features a smooth jumper, a reliable stepback for creating space, strong court vision, and the ability to finish through contact. He’s also praised for running offenses efficiently and making the right plays consistently.
For head coach Ryan Odom, this would be a major recruit, potentially the first blue-chip player of his tenure at Virginia. Odom has emphasized the importance of attracting high school talent and building a culture that retains players, drawing on his experience at VCU.
With last year’s 30-win season and most of the roster returning, Virginia has a solid foundation for player development—a key factor in recruiting top-tier talent like Richardson. The Cavaliers will need to make a strong push to secure his commitment, but the tools and vision are in place to begin landing elite prospects for the Odom era.
