Pelicans sign Caleb Houstan to one-year contract
The New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement with forward Caleb Houstan on a one-year contract. According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, Houstan will battle for the team’s final open roster spot heading into the season.
Houstan joins New Orleans after spending last season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he impressed by shooting 52.4 percent from beyond the three-point line. His outside shooting is expected to be his biggest asset as he competes for a place on the Pelicans’ roster.
The move also reunites Houstan with Jamahl Mosley, who coached him during their time with the Orlando Magic and is now a member of New Orleans’ coaching staff. The one-year deal gives Houstan an opportunity to earn another NBA roster spot through a strong preseason.
