Athletics make multiple roster changes following trade deadline
The Athletics announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday in the wake of the trade deadline. First baseman Nick Kurtz was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right thumb, while left-hander Jeffrey Springs landed on the 15-day injured list because of right hip discomfort.
To fill the vacancies, the club reinstated right-hander J.T. Ginn from the injured list and recalled infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Las Vegas.
In a separate move, left-handed reliever Ben Bowden was designated for assignment. Meanwhile, right-hander Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang cleared waivers after his recent DFA and has been outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas.
