Chicago Cubs Quietly Announce Latest Update

On Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs are set to play the second game of their series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Chicago enters the matchup following a dominant 17-3 victory over Milwaukee on Monday.

UPDATE: The Cubs fell 9-4.

Cubs Provide Swanson Update

The Cubs remain without Dansby Swanson, who has been sidelined since August 16 after suffering an injury.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reported on August 16 that Swanson was dealing with a Grade 2 oblique strain, writing: “Cubs news: Hearing it’s a Grade 2 oblique strain for Dansby Swanson, per a source. Normal timetable is 4-6 weeks. That would have him ready for the postseason.”

Before Tuesday’s matchup, the Cubs provided the latest update on the 2021 World Series champion.

According to MLB.com, Swanson resumed swinging a bat on August 31 after spending several days increasing his defensive workload. An August 17 MRI revealed an oblique strain, with the injury expected to keep him out for at least four weeks.

Prior to suffering the injury, Swanson was hitting .216 with 87 hits, 18 home runs, 66 RBIs, 78 runs scored and 17 stolen bases across 119 games.

Swanson is currently in his fourth season with the Cubs.

Although Swanson has endured an inconsistent season, there is no denying how important he remains to the Cubs.

If Chicago hopes to make a deep postseason run, having a healthy and productive Swanson could be crucial.

Swanson reflected on his career in an Instagram post on July 29, writing: “10 years. Wow. So much has happened during this time it’s hard to sum up with words on a post. God has been incredibly faithful and has blessed me with so much. I’m so thankful for my wife, family, friends, coaches, and teammates that have supported me for all these years. I’ve gone from a young rookie trying to find his way, to now inspiring the next generation of players. From falling in love with my wife, to now having our own family and beautiful baby girl. From winning a World Series with my hometown team, to now aspiring for another with the team I grew up watching with my grandfather. Days like today are amazing reminders that gratitude, hard work, and being committed to being who God made you to be is what matters most. I love y’all!”
