Colorado Extends Offer to Underrated 2028 Offensive Line Prospect

The Colorado Buffaloes are continuing to build momentum in the 2028 recruiting cycle, recently extending a scholarship offer to Texas interior offensive lineman Kendrick Morgan.

Although Colorado’s 2028 class has yet to secure its first commitment, head coach Deion Sanders and his staff appear to be developing a strong interest in one particular high school program. Morgan announced Saturday on X that he had received an offer from the Buffaloes.

Morgan became the second player from Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, to receive an offer from Colorado that day. The Buffaloes’ growing focus on the Rangers’ offense could be an indication of how seriously the program is evaluating the school’s young talent.

Kendrick Morgan Could Be a Hidden Gem

Because the contact period for the 2028 recruiting class has only recently begun, plenty of prospects remain relatively unknown on the national scene. Morgan is one of those players. None of the major recruiting services have assigned him a rating yet.

That lack of recognition may not last long.

Morgan already has an impressive physical profile after completing his sophomore season. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs approximately 280 pounds, while having experience playing both guard and tackle.

His film shows a combination of strength, athleticism and versatility. Morgan consistently showed the ability to overpower defenders in the running game, particularly when blocking edge rushers. He was also frequently utilized as a pulling lineman and lead blocker on screen plays.

Morgan looked comfortable in those situations, quickly recognizing his assignments and consistently finishing his blocks. His movement skills are particularly impressive for an offensive lineman of his size.

Why Morgan Fits Colorado’s Offense

The potential fit between Morgan and Colorado could be one of the biggest reasons the Buffaloes moved quickly to offer him.

Lone Star High School appears to run an offensive system that shares several similarities with Colorado offensive coordinator Chris Marve’s “Go-Go” offense. Screen concepts are among the clearest similarities, and Morgan has already demonstrated an ability to thrive in the type of role he could potentially have in Boulder.

That familiarity could make Morgan an especially intriguing prospect for the Buffaloes as they continue evaluating the 2028 class.

Colorado also extended an offer to Morgan’s Lone Star teammate, quarterback Trey Wright, on Saturday.

Wright currently holds a three-star rating from both Rivals and 247Sports, although his recruiting profile could rise significantly as more programs evaluate him. In 2025, he threw for 4,042 yards and 38 touchdowns while recording only seven interceptions. He added another 1,764 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

Morgan played an important role in helping Wright succeed, particularly in the running game. More importantly, the Buffaloes appear to have identified Wright as a quarterback whose skill set could translate well to their offensive system.

Adding both players could therefore be an intriguing possibility for Colorado, especially if their strong connection on the field continues at the next level.

Colorado Faces Competition for Morgan

The Buffaloes will have plenty of competition if they hope to land Morgan.

Despite not yet being rated by the major recruiting services, Morgan has already attracted scholarship offers from several notable programs. According to 247Sports, Wisconsin, Arizona, Houston and Oklahoma State are among the schools that have offered him.

Colorado may face even stronger competition for Wright, making Morgan’s recruitment potentially even more important. Landing the talented offensive lineman could strengthen the Buffaloes’ chances of eventually convincing Wright to follow him to Boulder.

For now, Colorado’s pursuit of the Lone Star duo is still in its early stages. However, Morgan’s recruitment could be one to watch closely, particularly because his eventual decision may provide insight into where Wright’s recruitment is headed as well.
