Florida State Star Receives Major Recognition Ahead of 2026 Season

Florida State’s biggest offensive weapon is receiving plenty of attention heading into the 2026 college football season.

The Seminoles are wrapping up preseason preparations with their season opener against New Mexico State at Doak Campbell Stadium less than two weeks away.

There are still plenty of unknowns surrounding the team. Florida State revamped its roster during the offseason, adding more than 60 new players and moving several athletes into unfamiliar roles. Although optimism has been building throughout fall camp in Tallahassee, the Seminoles will ultimately have to prove themselves once the games begin.

Fortunately for Florida State, the offense has an established playmaker it can count on.

FSU’s Duce Robinson Named Among College Football’s Most Important Players

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Bill Connelly released his list of the 40 most important players entering the 2026 season. Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson landed at No. 30 overall, making him the ninth wide receiver selected for the list.

Robinson, a senior, opted to return to Florida State rather than enter the NFL Draft and is expected to play a major role in the Seminoles’ offense this season.

Connelly highlighted Florida State’s potential to make noise in the ACC, particularly with games against Miami, SMU, Clemson and Louisville on the schedule. He also pointed to the potential chemistry between Robinson and new starting quarterback Ashton Daniels as a reason for optimism.

Despite quarterback limitations last season, Robinson produced 1,081 receiving yards and averaged 2.9 yards per route in 2025. Daniels, meanwhile, brings a more traditional passing style than last year’s starter, Tommy Castellanos.

Robinson has already developed a strong relationship with Daniels and has continued to emerge as one of the team’s leaders. His preparation, effort and approach have reportedly made an impact on his teammates as the Seminoles prepare for the season.

Robinson was the centerpiece of Florida State’s passing game in 2025, finishing with 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked among the FBS’ top 10 in receiving yards during the regular season and became the first Seminole in six years to surpass 1,000 receiving yards.

His outstanding season earned him first-team All-ACC honors and third-team All-American recognition. Robinson also finished as a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top wide receiver.

Now, Robinson will look to build on that breakout performance as Florida State begins its 2026 campaign against New Mexico State on August 29.
