Gonzaga offers 5-star small forward and top 15 recruit in 2027 class
Gonzaga has extended an offer to one of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, 5-star small forward DeMarcus Henry, a highly ranked wing who currently sits inside the top 15 nationally.

The offer comes as Mark Few and his staff continue building out their 2027 recruiting efforts, with Henry potentially becoming their second commitment in the class. The 6-foot-7 forward, who plays at Compass Prep in Arizona—the same program that recently featured Davis Fogle—has seen his stock rise quickly and is currently ranked No. 11 overall and No. 3 among small forwards according to 247Sports. A commitment to Gonzaga would place him among the highest-rated recruits in program history.
Competition for Henry is expected to be intense. Programs such as North Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky have all offered him recently, while LSU, Cincinnati, BYU, Louisville, Oregon, Texas A&M, West Virginia, USC, and Ohio State have also been in pursuit, making his recruitment one of the most closely watched in the country.
Henry also has notable family ties to Ohio State: his brother Chris Henry Jr. is committed to play football there in 2026, and his sister Seini is part of the Buckeyes women’s basketball program. Their late father, former NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, had a career that ended tragically in 2009.
On the court, Henry has produced at a high level for Compass Prep, helping lead the team to a 25–3 record and a No. 4 national ranking. He averaged 12.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game and earned MaxPreps All-America honorable mention honors. His strong play has continued on the summer circuit with Vegas Elite on the Nike EYBL, where he has posted standout scoring and rebounding numbers against top competition.
Scouts praise Henry’s combination of size, length, and versatility. As a smooth left-handed wing with athleticism, he projects as a multi-positional defender capable of guarding across the perimeter at the college level.
Gonzaga already has one 2027 commitment in guard Dooney Johnson and remains heavily involved with other top targets, including Jalen Davis and Gene Roebuck, as the program continues shaping its future classes. The Bulldogs’ 2026 group is also coming together with multiple high-level prospects already in the fold.
