Maryland Enters Recruitment for Emerging 2028 OT Kyan Reaves
Maryland is acting early to strengthen its future offensive line, extending an offer to 2028 offensive tackle Kyan Reaves. The towering prospect, listed at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, already brings the kind of size and physical tools that major programs covet.
By offering Reaves now, head coach Michael Locksley and his staff are making it clear they want to keep elite, homegrown talent in-state and build a dominant foundation up front for the years ahead.
Maryland joins a growing list of programs pursuing Reaves, including Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, East Carolina, and Georgia State. With multiple schools involved, his recruitment is shaping up to be a competitive regional battle.
Landing a player like Reaves would be a key long-term win for the Terrapins, especially as they continue to prioritize adding “Big Ten-sized” linemen. Already possessing a college-ready frame as an underclassman, he offers a rare developmental advantage compared to most recruits his age.
The early offer also reflects Maryland’s focus on maintaining its DMV recruiting pipeline. By targeting a standout from George Washington High School, the staff is working to keep top local prospects from leaving the region.
On the field, Reaves stands out as a powerful run blocker who uses his size and strength to dominate defenders. His tape shows an ability to generate push at the line of scrimmage and finish plays with authority, helping fuel a strong rushing attack for his team.
Like many young linemen of his size, he still has areas to refine. Improving flexibility, pad level, and lateral quickness will be key as he continues to develop, particularly in pass protection against faster edge rushers.
Even so, his physical upside makes him an ideal fit for Maryland’s offensive system, which relies on linemen who can create movement in both the run and pass game. Adding a player of his caliber would also help the Terrapins continue closing the gap in size and physicality against top Big Ten programs.
