New Orleans Saint Drop Blockbuster Announcement

Saints Work Out Two Veteran Receivers Following Jordyn Tyson Injury

New Orleans is considering veteran options at wide receiver with rookie Jordyn Tyson potentially facing an extended absence.

The New Orleans Saints are exploring additional depth at wide receiver after rookie Jordyn Tyson suffered a hamstring injury that could keep him out for as long as two months.

According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, New Orleans recently worked out veteran free-agent receivers Chase Claypool and Josh Reynolds.

Tyson suffered the injury Thursday during the Saints’ joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center in Metairie. The team has not announced an official recovery timetable, but a potential two-month absence could keep Tyson sidelined until around October 18, when New Orleans is scheduled to face the New York Giants.

“Jordyn’s had a great camp. He’s played really good football,” Saints head coach Kellen Moore said. “Inevitably, this is the unfortunate part of what preseason and training camp football is.”

Moore added that the Saints have already dealt with similar setbacks during camp and will continue working through them.

Chase Claypool Looking for Another Opportunity

Claypool, 28, is trying to revive his NFL career after a promising start with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh selected Claypool in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and most of his career production came during his first three seasons with the team. Across 39 games during that stretch, he recorded 175 receptions for 2,261 yards and 13 touchdowns.

His career has since taken a different path.

Claypool later spent time with the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins, with periods of limited playing time along the way. He has not caught a pass since 2023.

A season-ending injury suffered with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 kept him off the field throughout the 2025 season. Claypool also worked out for the Green Bay Packers during the spring of 2026 but did not earn a roster spot.

A strong performance during the Saints’ workout could give Claypool another opportunity to return to the NFL.

Josh Reynolds Offers Veteran Experience

Reynolds, 31, would bring considerably more experience to New Orleans’ receiver room.

The Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft after he set a Texas A&M single-season record with 13 touchdown receptions.

Over 121 NFL games, Reynolds has accumulated 244 receptions for 3,228 yards and 20 touchdowns.

After his time with the Rams, Reynolds briefly played for the Tennessee Titans before spending three seasons with the Detroit Lions. He later had stops with the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024.

Most recently, Reynolds played for the New York Jets in 2025, but a hip injury ended his season prematurely.

His familiarity with NFL offenses and extensive game experience could make him an appealing option for the Saints if they decide to add another receiver.

Saints Continue Joint Practices in California

New Orleans is currently in Oxnard, California, for training camp ahead of its preseason matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

The Saints held a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday and are also scheduled to practice with the Rams.

With Tyson’s injury creating additional uncertainty at wide receiver, those practices will provide the Saints with more opportunities to evaluate their existing personnel while determining whether a veteran addition is necessary.

For now, Claypool and Reynolds are simply workout candidates, but Tyson’s potential extended absence could make adding experienced depth increasingly important as New Orleans prepares for the regular season.
