Oklahoma Adds Safety Jaiden Fields to Impressive 2027 Recruiting Class

Oklahoma continued its strong recruiting momentum on Tuesday by securing a commitment from 2027 athlete and safety Jaiden Fields, further strengthening one of the nation’s top recruiting classes.

Fields, who plays at Hutto High School in Texas, announced his commitment to the Sooners, with the news first reported by Rivals recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive prospect selected Oklahoma over several notable programs, including Texas A&M, Stanford, SMU, and TCU.

Rated as a three-star recruit by both On3 and 247Sports, Fields is viewed as one of the better athletes in the 2027 class. On3 ranks him as the No. 19 athlete nationally and the No. 88 overall prospect in Texas.

Fields becomes the third defensive back in Oklahoma’s 2027 class, joining four-star safety Jaylen Scott of Mobile, Alabama, and Bode Sparrow, who recently committed to the Sooners.

Sooners Continue to Build One of Nation’s Best Classes

With the addition of Fields, Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting class continues to rank among the nation’s elite. Both On3 and 247Sports currently place the Sooners’ class at No. 4 nationally, trailing only Texas A&M among SEC programs.

The group is headlined by several highly regarded prospects, including Oklahoma five-star standouts Gabriel Osborne Jr. of Mustang, Cooper Hackett from Fort Gibson, and Kaeden Penny of Bixby. The class also features linebacker Cooper Witten, the son of former NFL star Jason Witten, as well as Seneca Driver, who is widely considered the top tight end in the 2027 recruiting class.

Adding Fields gives Oklahoma another versatile defensive playmaker as Brent Venables and his staff continue assembling one of the deepest and most talented recruiting classes in the country.
