Former St. Louis Cardinals Pitcher Cut By Marlins
Also on Sunday, the Miami Marlins made a roster move involving a former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher.
Miami designated left-handed pitcher John King for assignment, bringing an abrupt end to his latest stint with the Marlins.
MLB.com reported the move on Aug. 23, confirming that the Marlins had designated King for assignment.
King was in the midst of his first season with the Marlins before the roster move.
The left-hander posted a 6-2 record with a 3.99 ERA across 50 appearances this season.
Now, it remains to be seen whether another MLB team will put in a claim for King.
If he goes unclaimed, the Marlins could also look to retain him and send him to Triple-A.

Looking At King
King was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, beginning his professional career with the organization.
He spent the early portion of his major-league career with Texas before eventually moving on to other teams.
Across seven MLB seasons and 264 career appearances, King has compiled a 22-16 record with a 3.83 ERA.
