Vikings Sign Former D2 Standout WR Terrill Davis, Who Quickly Made a Name in Football
The Minnesota Vikings have added a promising undrafted wide receiver who only began playing football six years ago.
On Thursday, Minnesota announced the signing of Terrill Davis, a former Oklahoma State standout. Davis went undrafted in 2026 but participated in rookie minicamps with the 49ers and Ravens.
Davis spent the 2025 season at Oklahoma State, recording 29 catches for 373 yards. Before transferring, he played three seasons at Division II Central Oklahoma, redshirting in 2021, then totaling 58 receptions for 738 yards and four touchdowns over 2022 and 2023.
His breakout came in 2024, when he led all of college football with 109 catches for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns. He earned Division II First Team All-American honors and was a Harlon Hill Trophy candidate.
Davis only began playing football in his senior year of high school (2020), having previously focused on basketball. With gyms closed due to COVID-19, he switched sports and immediately excelled, earning District 6A-II-2 Offensive Player of the Year while leading Choctaw High School to a state championship.
Minnesota had been monitoring Davis since his Oklahoma State pro day, where he impressed scouts with a 39-inch vertical and 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump. A long conversation with a Vikings scout followed.
The Vikings’ top receiving corps is already strong with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Jauan Jennings. While Davis is considered a developmental prospect, he could earn a roster spot or more likely join the practice squad if he performs well in training camp. Tai Felton and Myles Price are positioned ahead of him for WR4 and WR5, but Minnesota has limited depth behind the top three, setting up a potential camp competition.
In a related move, the Vikings released linebacker Jordan Botelho, a former Notre Dame player who had 97 tackles and 12.5 sacks over six years at school. Botelho faced a tough path to making the roster due to depth at outside linebacker, including Dallas Turner, Jake Golday, and other experienced edge players.
